I have been researching my genealogy since 1998. Areas are Pennsylvania and New York.
If requesting a transfer to you, please contact me and be sure to include your member # and the # of the listing.
If you have a better photo - sometimes they get cleaned or repaired or the light might make yours more legible - please go ahead and post yours and let me know; I will delete mine, no problem.
Due to weather conditions in Western New York, many stones have lichen and moss; I will only clean off enough to uncover information. I will not take the risk on harming fragile stones by trying to clean them.
I am a researcher for Historic Concordia Cemetery - the records were translated from the old German script so there may be errors. Also the records recorded the burial date and in the late 1800's some recorded the date the plot was sold and who bought it, not who is interred (but did not indicate which they were recording), so if you show a different death date or other information please enter an edit and I will correct it. We have spent over 2 decades researching and verifying the info for Concordia so we take its accuracy seriously! Please send edits on the edit page but please note that census, the necro list (from city directories) and especially the Social Security Death Index (I have found death dates are incorrect there about 30% of the time sometimes off by as much as 2 weeks!) info contains many errors, so if a source is not certifiable, don't trust that it is correct. Do not trust the birth date reported in the 1900 census to be accurate. I have listed the interment dates so you can find death notices in newspapers easier.
For those interred in 1901, some were re-interred from the North Street Cemetery when that was closed, so I have left off the death dates if I am not able to verify they did die in 1901. I found records stating 122 people and 35 tombstones were moved from North Street to Concordia. I also see many interments in 1905 where the stones list an earlier date as they ere moved due to a cemetery closing so please be aware some interment dates might not be correct. All I can offer is what the records state.
Whenever possible I have included maiden names as well as middle names as Germans were more commonly known by their middle name.
I appreciate contributions of death notices and Obits but please note: ALL PUBLISHED INFO MUST STATE THE SOURCE i.e. the name of the publication and the date it was published. I WILL NOT ADD ANY PUBLISHED INFO WITHOUT A CORRECT AND COMPLETE SOURCE CITATION AS REQUIRED BY LAW. Also please DO NOT SEND ANY CENSUS INFO to add as I won't do it as: 1) that info is suspect for accuracy and sometimes downright incorrect and 2) People researching that person/family can access the info on line for free already so no need for redundancies.
Please do not send me any info that you are "assuming" i.e. subtract an age from a burial date (you can be off by a year), or anything that is not verifiable by a PRIMARY source and I appreciate you telling me what your source is. I take supplying true info to ancestors seriously.
The names I have entered for Elmlawn Cemetery are taken from a series of ads the cemetery placed in the Tonawanda News and have found errors; when I am not able to find a death listing I have entered the names as reported (can only work with what we are given!) and noted interment dates as some may be re-interments ; please submit any details/ information/corrections via the form on Find A Grave and also contact me if you would like any memorials transferred to you.
