Olden, Charles Smith b. November 19, 1799 d. April 7, 1876 Governor of New Jersey. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the 19th Governor of New Jersey from January 1860 until January 1863. After attending local public schools, he engaged in the mercantile business and became a successful businessman. In 1845 he first entered politics when he was elected to the New Jersey State Senate, serving until 1851. Stockton, Richard b. October 1, 1730 d. February 28, 1781 Signer of the Declaration of Independence from New Jersey. Born in Princeton, New Jersey, to a wealthy family. He grew up at Morven, the family estate, and attended Princeton University, graduating in 1748. He had studied law, and set up a law practice.
