Blair, Samuel Steele b. December 5, 1821 d. December 8, 1890 U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Jefferson College, in 1838, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1845 and commenced to practice law in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, in 1846. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1856 and elected as a Republican to the Thirty-sixth and Thirty-seventh Congresses, serving (1859-63). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 69. Hartman, Jesse Lee b. June 18, 1853 d. February 17, 1930 U.S. Congressman. He was employed as a clerk in a general store (1872-78), manager of a blast furnace company (1878-91), prothonotary of Blair County, (1891-97) and president of the Hollidaysburg Trust Company, (1898-1911). In 1911, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-second Congress, serving until 1913. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his position as president of the Hollidaysburg Trust Company, until his death at age 76 in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.
