BURLINGTON FLATS _ Anita Marie Mayne, 82, of Burlington Flats, was called home by her Savior early Thursday morning May 12, 2011, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 10, 1929, at home in West Burlington, the daughter of Ray and Olive (Brainard) West. Anita married Kenneth G. Mayne on February 16, 1952, at the United Methodist Church in Edmeston. Ken predeceased Anita on January 25, 2009.

Anita is survived by her children, Michele Schoellig (David) of Burlington Flats; Keith L. Mayne (Suzanne) of Bayport, Long Island; and Missy Corn, (Geoffrey) of Oakland City, Ind.; her grandchildren, Jason Schoellig of Edmeston; Mishea Krahnert (Richard) of Hartwick; Jessie Harrison (Jason) of Garrattsville; Amanda Ramirez (Kennedy) of Walsh, Col.; Kaitlyn and Julianne Mayne of Bayport LI; her great children, Richard David and Carter Krahnert, Gunner Mason Schoellig, Aurora Annalise & Reese Ramirez; her cousin Jeannine Palmiter of Edmeston.

Anita was predeceased by her sister, Betty Jane West.

Anita began her education in the one room school house in West Burlington, taught by Christine Fitch. She graduated from Edmeston Central School in 1946, and then graduated from Business College in Syracuse. Anita worked as a secretary for Hartwick College & later for Otsego Mutual Fire Insurance Company, Burlington Flats, from which she retired. Anita was an Avon dealer for over 25years, and is well know for her Avon collectibles.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, where she had held various offices. Anita volunteered for "Meals on Wheels" and was attending the Burlington Flats First Baptist Church.

Summers were spent at the camp in Summit Lake; enjoying the water shows put on by her husband, daughter and friends. In her younger years she enjoyed her flower garden. Anita was a devoted wife & loving mother who truly loved raising her children, and her home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday May 16, 2011, at the Burlington Flats First Baptist Church, with Pastor Jay Henderson officiating. Calling hours will be held 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Sun. May 15, 2011, at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral home, Edmeston.

Contributions may be made in Anita's memory, to either the American Cancer Society or the Burlington Flats First Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
