Charles "Charlie" Alex Steele, 67, died Thursday, September 17 at Plumas District Hospital. He was born November 24, 1913 in Rutland, Vermont. Steele, a resident of Quincy for the past 35 years, served as commissioner for the Fish and Game for 25 years. He was a veteran of World War II, a devout fisherman and sportsman. He owned an antique store and was know locally for his wood workings. He was also active in citizens committees with the school district. Steele is survived by his wife, Winnie of Quincy, two sons, Bill of Oroville and Steve of Quincy, and two daughters, Linda Price of Chico and Karol Coyne of Alameda. Also four grandchildren. Services were held Sun., September 20 at 11 a.m. in the Anderson Mortuary Chapel in Quincy. Cremation followed.
