Mona Fay Leer England passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on October 30, 2012 at her home. Mona was the oldest of two children born to parents Herbert C. Leer and Freda Martell Leer on January 31, 1931. She attended grade school with her brother in a one room school house in Pretty Rock Township, North Dakota. She graduated from High School in Elgin, North Dakota and continued her education at St Alexius Hospital School of Nursing in Bismark, North Dakota. After graduating with a Nursing Degree – she longed for adventure. The Nuns at St Alexius encouraged her to come to St Benedict's Hospital. She arrived in Ogden, UT in 1952 where she began her nursing career and met the love of her life – Boyce (Buzz) England. Mona and Buzz were married April 1954.

During her time with St. Benedict's Hospital she worked in several positions, but the majority of her career was spent in the Operating Room. In addition to being an Operating Room Nurse, she worked in the capacity of Operating Room Nursing Director and was the first Director of the St Benedict's Single Day Surgery.

Mona and Boyce raised their family in Plain City, UT on their farm. In addition to working at the Hospital – she assisted and supported Dad with the farm. She was the organizer – keeping all the farm records accurate and compete. After work was over – Mom and Dad made time for fun. They were members of the Weber County Sherriff Posse for many years and loved the Posse Family. Mom and Dad provided opportunities for their children to enjoy the love of horseback riding. All 5 of their children (along with countless other children) were members of the Plain City North Junior Posse – with Mona and Buzz serving as leaders for many years.

Mona enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved sewing and created many treasures for her family and friends. Mona had many special relationships with those in her card groups. She enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles, shopping and going for walks with her neighbors and her dog Tipper. Mona demonstrated selfless service throughout her life. She was proud to be able to provide a scholarship fund in honor of Buzz after his death; those scholarships assisted youth in the farming communities of Weber County to further their education.

Mona loved the companionship of others. After dad's passing she completed the sale of their farm and moved to The Cottages in Harrisville, UT where she began the next phase of her life. Although she missed Dad (and Plain City) deeply - she grew to love the cherished community of the Cottages. She valued her friends and neighbors. Her passing leaves a deep void in their hearts.

Mona was member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Ogden, UT. She had strong faith and enjoyed her hours of worship and the relationships within her church community.

Mona is survived by her five children, Joell (Lynn) Archibald, Gearhart, OR, Jodee (Jim) Harris, Harrisville, UT, Bret (Kimberly) England, Scottsdale, AZ, Beth (Doug) Nelson, South Ogden, UT and Bart England, Annabella, UT ; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren with another expected in the spring, brother and sister-in-law, Marvin (Katie) Leer, Stanton, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents; her sweetheart Buzz England, and daughter-in-law Laurie England.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 2nd at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call on Thursday November 1st from 6-8 PM and Friday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Plain City Cemetery.
