WILMA WISCHMEIER, 82, MOTHER, MUSICIAN, LIBRARIAN, Aunt and dear friend died of melanoma Saturday, September 22, 2007 in Kansas City, MO surrounded by family and close friends after a brief two month illness.
She had lived in Ohio, California, Nebraska, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Kentucky, Kansas and Missouri.

She was born Wilma Lorene Augsburger on November 10, 1924, in Pandora, OH to Mary (Diller) and Menno Augsburger speaking only Swiss until she went to school.
She was the youngest of four children born following Lenna, Ottis, and Emmett.

She grew up in the Pandora/Bluffton, OH area and graduated from Pandora High School and went on to graduate from Grace Bible Institute, Omaha, NE in 1947 with a diploma in Bible and Music; and also graduated from Taylor University, Upland, IN, with a BA in Music.
During her professional career she was a vocal soloist, conductor, violinist, organist, piano teacher, librarian, and administrative professional.

Wilma married Dr. Roger Wischmeier in 1958 and is survived by him as well as a daughter, Barbara Ellen, of St. James, MD., a son, David Scott of Elgin, IL, and brother Ottis Wilmer of Bluffton, OH, in addition to being a beloved aunt to 5 nieces: Ramona Busenitz, Aleda Berry, Lori Flory, Miriam Griffin, and Marty Showalter; she will be missed by many friends who loved her dearly.

Wilma loved sharing meals with family and friends at home and in local restaurants; and as an avid gardener she was proud of her potted flower garden on the deck, and was very knowledgeable about them. Wilma was a devoted reader of the inspirational magazine Guideposts. "Aunt Willie" as she was known by her nieces, continued to ceaselessly devote much of her time to her family, whom she had the gift of loving unconditionally. She had a strong and giving spirit, tender nature, and she touched many lives with her gentle fortitude and generous personality. Wilma's great faith was her strength and resolve that remained her rock throughout her life. Known for her occasional irreverent humor with impeccable timing, her practical jokester style will be carried-on in her son David. Wilma will be missed by the many whose lives she indelibly touched.

The Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at The Chapel at John Knox Village, 510 NW Murray Rd in Lee's Summit, MO.

Visitation: Wednesday, September 26, 6-8 pm and Funeral: Thursday, September 27, 2:00 pm, preceded by a music prelude at 1:30 pm.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Missouri Funeral Care (816) 353-1700.
