Milton – Funeral services will be held at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton for Tina “Pool” Simon, 87, who passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Keith LaBove, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services.

Mrs. Simon, the daughter of the late Edier Broussard and the former Lorna Landry, was a native of Vermilion Parish. She was employed by the Lormand Canning Company in Milton and retired from the Comeaux High School cafeteria staff. She was the housekeeper of the St. Joseph Church before her retirement. “Pool” as she was lovingly known was a member of the St. Joseph Ladies Altar Society and a devout member of the St. Joseph Church Community. She was well known for her cake baking and gumbos.

Survivors include her 7 sisters, Leona Broussard of Milton; Wilda Bares of Erath; Mildred Picard of Milton; Joyce Schexnider of Hackberry; Louella Sonnier of Lafayette; Janet Lacy of Scott; Nola Broussard of Milton; one brother, Paul H. “Nap” Broussard of Milton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mabry Simon; one son, Harold Joseph Simon; one daughter, Gloria Faye Simon; one brother, Francis Broussard.

Visiting hours were observed from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 9 a.m. today until the time of services. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Keith LaBove and at 10 a.m. today by the Ladies Altar Society.

Pallbearers will be Chad Lacy, A. J. Broussard, Errol Broussard, Darrell Schexnider, Guy Picard, and Greg Sonnier.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert H. Landry, Carol Lacy, Douglas Duhon, Jr., Ben Sonnier, Bobby Simon, Kenneth Pontiff, Theo Bares, Alton Schexnider, Jimmie Sonnier and Paul H. “Nap” Broussard.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her sitters, Curlis Savoy, Morgan Savoy, Sr. and Morgan Savoy, Jr.; also Dr. Lester Ducote and his staff, the staff of Lafayette General Medical Center 7th Floor, the Rev. Rex Broussard and all who dropped in to visit her.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 200 Chief H. Fred Avenue, Maurice, is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
