Lester Eugene Sprecher, 81, of 19922 Sheridan Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at his home.

Born April 29, 1918, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Edgar F. and Bessie M. Longnecker Sprecher.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Frances Sprecher.

He was a 1937 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He was employed by Bell Air Cobra in Buffalo, N.Y., and by Fairchild Aircraft. He retired from teaching at the Career Studies Center.

He had owned and operated Hobby Mart on North Potomac Street in Hagerstown.

A member of Grace United Methodist Church, he sang in the choir and was president of Men's Sunday School Class. He was a member of Maryland State Christian Endeavor.

He was a member of Experimental Aircraft Club; and Mason-Dixon Barbershoppe Chorus.

He is survived by a daughter, Laurie Christine Simpson of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two sisters, Betty J. Sprecher Otto of Sharpsburg and Mildred C. Sanders of Hagerstown; a brother, Harold D. Sprecher of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Guy I. Sprecher, Max E. Sprecher and Harry G. Sprecher.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.
