Alix Brooks had a flair for drama and a talent for dance, even as a girl in Coronado, California. She participated in the Beach School dance productions and parties given at the Hotel del Coronado, which were very elaborate, costumed affairs. She studied ballet and other styles of dance, and at some point traveled to Chicago to attend Ned Wayburn's dance school, from which she graduated.

According to her brother, Thomas Brooks, Alix auditioned for Fanshon and Marcos, a famous, sister-brother dance and choreograph team in Los Angeles in 1929, when Alix was 18 years old. She was hired on the spot. She may have been part of the large troupe of dancers who performed in the delightfully technical production numbers.

Alix was first married to Jack Sidele, around 1930 and divorced around 1932.

She next married John Hull, dates unknown.

Alix married Thomas C. Peebles in 1935. They were married for several years.

Alix married John L. Drehner in November 1958.

Alix lived most of her adult life in San Diego, CA and Coronado, CA.
