Peggy J. Hamby, 83, of Palatka, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at her home after a long illness.
She was born in Kenly, N.C., and had resided in Palatka for the past 39 years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Palatka and enjoyed fishing and sports, especially the Miami Dolphins and the Atlanta Braves.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Woodard, mother, Millie Parker, and two sisters, Frances Hughes and Judith Quinn.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Bill R. Hamby Sr. of Palatka; three daughters, Deborah Pinner and husband, Robert, of Palatka, Liz Burns of Tunnell Hill, Ga., and Penny Hamby of Palatka; two sons, Dale Burns and wife, Peggy, of Palatka and Billy Hamby and wife, Doreen, of Palatka; two brothers, Ralph Woodard and wife, Brenda, of Palatka and Kenneth "Bud" Woodard of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Jane Ortiz of Belevedere, S.C., and Barbara Lawhorn of New Bern, N.C.; seven grand-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 1 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Keith Hutcheson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill West Cemetery. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 30 Nov 2001.)
