Edwin is the sixth child of Alfred M. Hatfield and Amanda M. Vanscoy.

Edwin first married Flossie Taylor, Oct 20, 1934, Newport, Campbell County, Kentucky.

An excerpt from Newark Advocate - 10/13/1944:

"Edwin Hatfield used to drive a truck before the war came. In his own words, 'he didn't do much of anything.' But today, with seven months in the Army behind him, Hatfield has a trade, and a good one. He is grinding and re-sizing crank shafts at the Fifth Service Command's base.
It was only last May that Hatfield came out of the Army with medical discharge. He applied for a job at the base shop and was surprised to find that they teach you a trade out there, and pay you while they're doing it! That's what the Army is doing to help rehabilitate and re-employ." .....

His first wife was Ethel H. Winchell.

He married Flossie M. TAYLOR Snelling in 1971, although she appears listed with him on Newark city directories in 1930's. She was born in Detroit, Michigan. They had a son Edwin R. Hatfield in 1936 who died at only 21 days old.

Newark Advocate - 9/29/1971:
Marriage license applied for by Edwin Hatfield, 56, of 438 Central Ave., factory employee, to Flossie M. Snelling, 51, of 349 Buckingham.

She died in 1994, Fairfield Cty, Ohio.
