SECRET MARRIAGE IS ANNOUNCED
A woman may not be able to keep a secret without help from the opposite sex, however Neal Kersbergen and the former Catherine Braafhart proved very conclusively of a year ago secret.
This week it is announced that they were married at Lancaster, MO., on Thursday, Nov. 26, 1936, Thanksgiving Day. They are now receiving the congratulations of their many friends.
Mr. Kersbergen is a son of Mrs. John Kersbergen of near Monroe and is an employee of the local post office. Mrs. Kersbergen daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Braafhart, has been employed the past two years in the office of the Rol-screen Co. as stenographer.
The couple will reside at 1109 Washington Street.

Cornelius (Neal) Kersbergen, the son of Gerrit and Aaffie Kersbergen, was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on November 17, 1873. He came to America with his parents, settling in the Pella vicinity.

For some years he was engaged in the produce business and later provided transportation for the U.S. Mail between the Rock Island Depot and the local Post Office.

He leaves two sisters-in-law, Mrs John Kersbergen of Monroe and Mrs. Anne Kersbergen of Perry. He also leaves the following nieces and nephews:
Gerrit W. Kersbergen, John A. Kersbergen, Nell Kersbergen, Mrs. Wm. Kool, Mrs. James Munson, Harry Kersbergen, Merrill Kersbergen, Darlene Kersbergen and Erma Whitehead.

Also surviving is cousin Henry Kersbergen and Henry's two son's, Roy and Murray Kersbergen.

For many years Neal made his home with the Henry Kersbergen family. At the time of his death he and Henry resided at 300 Union street, Pella.

The end came at the Still Hosptial, Des Moines, Iowa, the evening of December 26, 1960. He had attained the age of 87 years.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, December 29 by the Rev. Orin Young of the Monroe M.E. Church at the Chapel of the Van Dyke-Duven Furneral Home.

Casket bearers were: Gerrit W.; john A.; William Kool; and Roy Kersbergen. Burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery at Pella.
