Donald R. Bishop was born in Big Spring, Texas, to the late Rogene and Faye (Calvin) Bishop. After the death of his parents when he was 14 years old, Don went to live with his sister, Joyce Isbell, and her husband, Bill. This made it possible for him to eventually move to Bellmead and meet his future wife, Blinda.
Don joined the U.S. Air Force in 1970 during the Vietnam War. He would serve in the Air Force as both active and Reserve until he retired in 1996, after achieving the rank of CMSgt, the highest enlisted rank in the USAF. He was a member of the 301st Medical Squadron stationed at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth. His last role was as the Supervisor of Nursing Services. Don worked for M&M/Mars in Waco, for over 33 years. He enjoyed working outdoors, sports, and woodworking. His family and friends were always a priority in his life, and he will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Joyce Isbell, Linda Fields, and Elizabeth King.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Blinda, of Elm Mott; son, Kenneth Bishop, also of Elm Mott; daughter, Jennifer Fielden and husband, Brady, of Mansfield; sister, Charla McMillan, of Benton, La.; mother-in-law, Juanita Foster, of Hewitt; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
