Freda Hubbs Ranspot, 86, a resident of Springfield for the past 10 years, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012, in Manor Care Nursing Home, Springfield. She was born November 20, 1925, near Warsaw, MO, to Harley and Sallie Hubbs. Prior to moving to Springfield, Freda and her husband of 61 years, John, lived on Truman Lake, near Freda's birthplace.

Freda graduated from Warsaw High School and attended College in Warrensburg, MO. She later graduated from the University of Texas El Paso with high honors. She worked in a variety of positions because of her husband's transfers. Freda taught school in Missouri, Louisiana, and Texas. She sold real estate in Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and Alaska. She had her pilot's license and liked sailing. She also held various positions in state governments in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Alaska. Her greatest interest in the past several years had been her family genealogy. She had traced family lines back to the 1400s.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Elvin, Jack, and Clayton Hubbs; two sisters, Nina Hubbs Powell and Hieda Hubbs Martin.

She is survived by her husband, John Ranspot, Springfield; children, Calvin Ranspot and wife Carol, Sedalia, MO, and Karen Ranspot Todd and husband, Mike, Warsaw, MO; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Fynn Hubbs, Coal, MO, Vivian Ferguson Hubbs, Olathe, KS, and Joann Tahari Hubbs, Amherst, MA; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12-2 pm, Saturday, November 3, 2012, with funeral services following at 2 pm all in Lakeside Chapel, near Warsaw, MO, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Roseland, where Freda's parents and various ancestors are buried.
