Meigs Co. Auditor Succumbs
Hiram J. Blackmore, 83, well known throughout Meigs County for his interest in civic and public affairs died Saturday evening at the Meigs General Hospital.
Funeral services for the deceased will be held from the Grace Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Edwin Charles of Cincinnati officiating.
The deceased was for a number of years, Postmaster of Pomeroy; Meigs County Auditor; a member of the of Pomeroy National Bank; he was also with the New York Central Railroad Hobson offices and a retired State Bank Examiner.
Mr. Blackmore left Pomeroy about 18 years ago but after the death of his sister, Miriam Lee Blackmore, at Hillsboro, in 1956, returned here and has since made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Whippel of Pomeroy.
The deceased was born in Racine, attended the Racine schools and for a period of time was the president of the Racine Bank. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Pomeroy Lodge 164 F & AM, Pomeroy Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Bosworth Council and Ohio Valley Commandery 24. He was also a member of Olive Grange and the Elks Lodge. Several years ago he received his 50 year pin for Masonry from the Grand Lodge of Ohio.
Pallbearers for the services will be: Fred Crow, Manning Webster, Rupert Knight, Victor Wippel, Frank Will and Emmett Will. Organist will be Mildred Fowler.
Burial will be made in the Beech Grove Cemetery.
