James Henry Negan, 67, of Shell Rock, Iowa, died on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at his home in Shell Rock, Iowa.

Jim was born on July 21, 1945, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Henry and Anna (Timmer) Negan. Jim was Baptized in 1945 and later confirmed in 1967, both at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Allison. In May of 1963, Jim graduated from the Waverly-Shell Rock High School.

In 1965, he entered the United States Army and served in Korea. While in Korea Jim met his wife Lee and on May 4, 1967, the couple was married at the United States Embassy in Seoul, South Korea.

Later that year he was honorably discharged and the couple made their home in Shell Rock. During his life Jim worked for Clay Equipment in Cedar Falls from 1963 -1994, Top Air Manufacturing from 1994-1999, and at Omega Cabinets in Waterloo from 1999 until retiring in April of 2008.

Jim was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. His enjoyments included fishing, camping, working in the yard and in his outdoor fish pond, watching birds, and building bird houses.

Jim's memory is honored by: his wife, Lee Negan of Shell Rock; a brother, Ron (Sue) Negan of Shell Rock; a sister, Darlene (Jack) Roberts of Zearing; a brother-in-law, Darwin Schrage of West Union; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Schrage.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison, Iowa with Pastor Gary Mulder officiating. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Shell Rock.
