Summer entered the gates of Heaven surrounded by her loving family and close friends, where she received the ultimate prize, a complete healing and an eternal home. Summer's love for Jesus, passion for her family and heart to selflessly serve others will be a legacy that she will leave for generations to come. Summer grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Auburn University in 1999.
Summer is survived by her husband, Jeremy and their 4 children; Taylor, Savannah, Jaylen and Sarah Kate; her parents Clarence and Pat Wood; sister Misty Wood and niece Brooklyn; grandparents James and Juanita Whittle, all of Birmingham; parents-in-law Robert and Beverly Kempfer; sister-in-law Shiloh Ort and her husband Chris Ort, and nieces Lauren and Haley; grandparents Lola Johnson, John Kempfer and Alice Ehlenfeldt, all of Wisconsin.
A private family graveside service will take place on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, followed by a service to celebrate Summer's life at 11:00 am at Church of the Highlands, Auburn Campus, 323 Airport Road, in Airport Plaza.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a contribution for the children to the Kempfer Fund via Freedom 21. Donations can be made online at www.freedomtwenty-one.org/donate and designate Summer Kempfer or make checks payable to Freedom 21 and denote Kempfer Fund and mailed to "Freedom 21" at 2204 Austell St, Opelika, AL 36801.
