Julie Ann Ickes, 89, Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, died Thursday at the Manor.

She was born in Niles, Ohio, daughter of William Henry and Elsie Marie (Jackman) Kovensky. She married Joseph D. Ickes, and he died Nov. 6, 2001.

Surviving are a daughter, Marianne (Thomas A. Sr.) Hofer of Altoona; a son, Barry (Susan) of Hollidaysburg; seven grandchildren: Julie Vitko, Derron Farber, Kristen Downs, Bryan Ickes, Laura Hess, Matthew Ickes and Joanna Ickes; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Elizabeth Whitacre in California, Shirley Barras of Doylestown and Elaine Pletcher of Altoona; two brothers: William Kovensky of Hollidaysburg and Leroy Kovensky in California; and a special sister-in-law, Joann Kovensky.

Julie was a member of Christ Community Church, Lakemont. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed cooking for them.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
