His burial card states he died of shortness of breath on November 27, 1892, age 36 years, and was buried November 30.

Thomas May, the bartender, who went insane a few days ago and was taken to the county jail for safekeeping, died at 10 o'clock last night. Undertaker Brewer was ordered to take charge of the remains by Mr. May's friends. The deceased was a widower and leaves two small children, who are living in Omaha.
