A. W. Armantrout Succumbs

Allen W. (Dad) Armantrout, 91, a resident of Centralia since 1909, and for years a familiar downtown figure, succumbed early Wednesday in a local hospital.

Mr. Armantrout, born July 25, 1864, in Indiana, hauled mail from the city's old depot to the post-office by team and wagon shortly after he came to Centralia. He had the first auto truck in the city and for many years held a contract for hauling mail and baggage. Later he operated a taxi, retiring in 1936.

The family home is at 207 West Pear street.

Surviving the deceased are three sons: Charles E. Armantrout, Tucson, Ariz.; R. Glenn Armantrout, Portland, and C. Wayne Armantrout, Centralia; daughter, Mrs. Lela Coffman, Centralia; two brothers, both in Kansas, three granddaughters and four great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Newell-Hoerling's, Centralia, with interment to be at Mountain View.
