Author, Rock Musician, Journalist, Poet. Credited by some with popularizing the terms "heavy metal" and "punk rock", he wrote highly influential criticism and commentary (which as times had been characterized outrageous, sensitive, and comical) for "Rolling Stone," "Creem," "The Village Voice," and many other publications. He also sang with the The Delinquents, as well as other bands. His posthumously-assembled collection "Psychotic Reactions And Carburetor Dung," appeared in 1987, and his biography, "Let It Blurt," by Jim DeRogatis, appeared in 2000.
