Ashland Tidings, Monday, July 29, 1918:ASHLAND MOURNS FIRST BOY TO LOSE HIS LIFE AT BATTLE FRONT.--News was received last night that Ashland's first boy had fallen in battle and had given his life for his country in France. This is Clement M. Summers, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Summers of 129 Laurel street. A telegram reached Mrs. Summers last evening from Adjutant General McCain as follows: Deeply regret to inform you that Private Clement M. Summers, engineers, is officially reported as killed in action July 11.
