She resigned her practice when she married Walter Beals July 14 1904, but served as a Seattle Justic of the peace during WW I, filling the office left vacant when her brother Major John E Carrol went into the army. She was active in community projects, helping to found the Seattle Milk Fund, and serving on the board of the Girl Scouts.
