she was the first woman to graduate from the University of Washington law school. After earning her degree, she went to New Orleans, where she attended a suffrage meeting, and had her picture taken with Susan B. Anthony, before entering practice with her father and brother. She resigned her practice when she married Walter Beals July 14 1904, but served as a Seattle Justic of the peace during WW I, filling the office left vacant when her brother Major John E Carrol went into the army. She was active in community projects, helping to found the Seattle Milk Fund, and serving on the board of the Girl Scouts.

In 1880, she was 5, (b. in Louisiana) in Olympia WA with her father P.P. Carroll (36, Ireland), mother Sarah J. Carroll (35, VA)and her six brothers and sisters. Her father was a lawyer.

She was listed on pg 86 of the 1914-1925, Woman's Who's Who of America: b. New Orleans, LA, daughter of P.P. and Sarah J. (Talbott)Carroll. President of university of Washingon Alumnae. Catholic, Republican, member of United Daughters of the Confederacy.
