VANDIVER RITES HERE FRIDAY
Mrs. Nellie Vandiver, 90, 1209 South Seventh street, died early today at the Atchison hospital where she had been a patient for seven weeks.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Stanton chapel. Burial will b in the Cummings cemetery.
Mrs. Vandiver was born Oct. 10, 1876, at Skidmore, Mo., a daughter of P. K. and Louisa Shields Carson.
On her second birthday she crossed the Missouri river with her parents en route to Smith county in Kansas, where they homesteaded.
She and Bert Vandiver were married Oct. 18, 1895, in Atchison. They made their home in the Nortonville and Cummings areas before moving to Atchison in 1927. Mr. Vandiver died in 1940.
Surviving are three sons, L. G. "Bud" Vandiver, Raymondville, Mo., Elton (Baldy) Vandiver, Atchison; and Raymond C. Vandiver, Basehor; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Martin, Waverly, and Mrs. Ruth Nitz, Atchison; two brothers, Oral Carson, Wymore, Neb., and Clifford Carson, Atchison; 12 grandchildren 29 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
A sister, Mrs. Vera Oswald, died in 1944.
