LAURENCE NEWMAN

Laurence Newman,72, of 6219 Penrose, a Dallas resident and printer with the Tom Newman Lithography Co. for 45 years, died here Wednesday.

He was a native of McKinney.

Survivors, all of Dallas: wife, a daughter, Mrs. Jackie Lou Marcum; four brothers, Tom R. Newman, W. Marion Newman, Hal C. Newman, and Howard Newman; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Smoot, Sr., and Mrs. Frank Brannan; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Newman passed away at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Entombment in Restland Abbey, Restland Memorial Park. Parents: Marian Newman and Hallie (Roach) Newman.

He signed a WWI draft registration card June 5, 1917 at Dallas, Texas giving his date of birth as March 4, 1894. Born at McKinney, Texas. He was living at 5311 Hudson in Dallas. Description: single, age 23, medium height, medium build, brown eyes, brown hair, able bodied. Occupation: claim clerk for MK&T Ry. Co. in Dallas. He stated his father, sister, and brother were solely dependent on him for support. He claimed an exemption from the draft because of his dependent father, sister, and brother.

This card is entirely typed, including his name and signature: "Lawrence" Newman.
