Some researchers believe Peter was the son of Joseph Albertus Salle' and Jemima A. Maxey; however, additional proof is necessary to accept this as fact.

Peter Sallee married Lucinda, daughter of Margaret Shepard, on February 21, 1829 in Fayette Co., KY. They are enumerated in the 1830 Lexington, Fayette Co. census. To this union were born Margaret and James F.. (James F's memorial #15574235). Lucinda died between 1834 and 1836.

Peter married Elizabeth (Sipple) Lawson in Monroe Co., IL on February 23, 1836. In this county, he purchased 40 acres on August 27th of that same year. Two years later, on August 20, 1838, he purchased an additional 40 acres.

By 1840, children William J. and Catharine had been born.

In 1850, the family is living in Eagle, Monroe Co., IL. John B. and Malinda, my ancestor, are now part of the family.

The family migrated to Keytesville, Chariton County, MO by 1860. Sons William and John enrolled in active military duty at Brunswick, MO on the same day, October 13, 1862. On December 6, 1862, John was relieved from duty.

Wife Elizabeth had apparently died by February 7, 1864 for on this date Peter married Rebecca Glasgow (maiden name unknown) in Chariton County, MO.

On May 2, 1865, Peter paid toward the estate of Abraham Cash.

Peter died in November 1869.

John B. married Martha Ann "Annie" Humphries/Humphreys.
Malinda married John Wesley Howard (my line).

James F. Sallee, aged 25, died on August 14, 1861 as result of a leg injury sustained during the US Civil War. He served as a private in Co. F of Minnesota's 1st Volunteer Infantry. He was buried at Richmond National Cemetery, Richmond City, VA.
