Death came to Miss Emma Ruedebusch on Tuesday morning at nine o'clock, after long and intense suffering which she bore without a murmur.

Emma M. Ruedebusch was born on July 22, 1861, on a farm in the town of Williamstown, three miles southeast of Mayville. Here she grew to girlhood, attended their district school, later the high school in Mayville and the Horicon high school. She took up the teaching profession at an early age and taught most successfully in the district schools of Theresa and Beaver Dam, and at the local public school. Although many years have elapsed since she taught school, her pupils have not forgotten her, and all agree that she was the most thorough and most generous hearted teacher they ever had.

For several years Miss Ruedebusch made her home at Beaver Dam, where she held a position as bookkeeper, and substituted as German teacher in the high school. After that her parents moved to a farm near Mayville, where her father was stricken with a fatal sickness. It was Emma who gave her father the best and most loving care.

Soon after the father's death Miss Ruedebusch and her mother built a comfortable home on Bridge Street, where the mother died four months ago. Miss Ruedebusch and her mother were loving companions. The tragedy of her life was that she had to leave her invalid mother in December to go to the hospital at Fond du Lac, from where she came home in February, a month before her mother passed away. The daughter could not give the mother the loving care at the last, that she had given her for many years.

The departed was a patient sufferer. The many friends that came to visit her marveled at her forbearance. No complaint came from her lips. Miss Ruedebusch had the highest of ideals. Mayville has lost an industrious, generous, kind, pureminded and wholehearted citizen, who took an interest in the entire community.

Emma Ruedebusch is survived by the following sisters and brothers: Herman, of this city; Anna, Mrs. Otto Raddant of Shawano; Carl, of Beaver Dam; Louise, Mrs. Herman Heller, of Appleton; Otto, of Brownsville; Reinhold, and Paula, Mrs. G. Husting, of this city. One sister, Lydia, Mrs. Frank Lawrence, preceded her in death. She is also survived by twenty-four nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the late home, and at 2:30 from the Methodist church. She will be laid to rest in the family plot in Graceland cemetery.
