Harry Porter was born in Connecticut on 28 Sep 1793. He was the son of John S. Porter and Zerviah Hawkins Porter. The family moved to Coventry, CT to Henderson, Jefferson County, New York around 1800. Harry served in the War of 1812. He married Elizabeth Bassett on 12 Feb 1814. Harry and Elizabeth moved to Clarkson, Monroe County, NY. Around 1835 they became pioneer settlers in Farmington, Fulton County, Illinois.

Harry's wife Elizabeth died 26 Nov 1855. He married Mrs. Sarah Nurse on 27 Jul 1856 in Peoria County.

2. Clara was born about 1818. She married Joseph E. Deuel on 31 Oct 1840 in Illinois. In 1840 they lived in Salem Twp, Knox County, IL. They lived there for 18 years. (However, they lived in Pittsburgh,PA in 1843 when their son Edwin G. was born.) In 1858 they moved to Fulton County, IL. In 1883 they moved to Santa Anna, Los Angeles County, CA. When Joseph's will was probated on 9 Aug 1889 in CA, Clara/Clarissa was still living. Clara and Joseph had two sons and two daughters. (I have only found their son Edwin #99825474.)

6. William Walter Porter was born in Clarkson, Monroe, NY on 31 Jan 1826. He went to Knox College, Galesburg, IL and Rush Medical College, Chicago, IL. In 1849 he went west for two years practicing medicine. In 1851 returned to Illinois but returned West. Eventually (1856) established a practice (homoeopathy) in Galesburg, Knox, IL. William Walter married Nancy Pollock on 5 Nov 1848. They had two sons: Jay and John R. William W. died between 1870 and 1880. His exact death date and burial place are unknown. Nancy died after the 1880 census. Her death date and burial place are unknown.
