Born and raised in Unity, Maine, he was the son of the late Clyde E. and Manilla B. (Reynolds) Shorey. A resident of Warren since 1960, he previously resided in Bristol for several years. He was a Command Sergeant Major in the United States Army and Army Reserves for 27 years, retiring in 1977. Following his retirement from the Army he was a General Manager for the former Maisano Brothers Oil and Heating Company in Bristol for 31 years, retiring from them in 1991. An avid bowler, he was involved for many years in duck pin leagues at Dudek's Alley in Warren.
Mr. Shorey leaves a daughter, Gwendolyn M. Day of Warren; two grandchildren, Denyse M. Dias and her husband Michael of Swansea, and Nathan A. Shorey of Cranston; two great-granddaughters, Emma R. and Olivia B. Dias; and two brothers, Robert E. Shorey of Fairfield, Maine and Aaron L. Shorey of Barrington. He was the father of the late Glendon R. Shorey and brother of the late C. Norman, George H. and Arnold L. Shorey, Cleo H. Graham, Velma E. MacDonald, Maxine L. Gecawich, Joyce Miller and Dawn, Gwendolyn P. and Barbara Shorey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol. A graveside service and burial with Military Honors will follow Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 in Pond Cemetery in Unity, Maine.
