Edwin Bennion Cowley was born on April 14, 1941. He was born to Joseph Foss and Marian Bennion Cowley. He married Lana Louise Carmen on November 6, 1967. For the last 45 years, they have been side by side raising five children and enjoying nine grandchildren. He passed away suddenly October 25, 2012.

He was never far from his sweet wife and together they touched the lives of their children, grandchildren, siblings and all who crossed their path. He cherished his family and loved spending time with them, whether it was cheering for his grandchildren in football, soccer and dance or life in general. He found the little things that we all loved and would show up at just the right time to brighten our day. His calming influence was felt by all those who knew him. His kindness and unselfish example showed that people matter most.

His love for family deepened as he began his search into family history. He loved learning and spent countless hours reading about many different subjects but most of all he loved studying the gospel of Jesus Christ. His simple, steadfast testimony was a source of strength for all of us.

He is survived by his wife Lana; son Edwin B. Jr.; daughters , Christy Hiatt (Garrison), Mary Jo Jorgensen (Alan), Amy Smith (Christian), Sarah Gardner (Todd); brother Joseph F. Jr. (Gwen); sisters Mary Clayton (Paul), Laura Hansen (Royal) and nine grandchildren.

Services will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Foothill Sixth Ward, 2215 Roosevelt Avenue. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, and at the ward Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
