A. W. Johnson's Services Today PORTALES (Special) —
Services for Allen Wallace Johnson, 64, are set for 10:30 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church with burial set for 4 p.m. at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary of Portales. Mr. Johnson died Monday in Portales following a lengthy illness. Johnson was born in Hope, N M on April 27, 1908. He was a former Field Man for the Safeway milk plant in Clovis and member of a pioneer Pecos Valley family. Johnson, a New Mexico State University graduate, served as State Extension Agronomist and as County Agent in Dona Ana, Luna and Otero counties and later operated dairies in Hope, Carlsbad and Artesia. He was appointed three times to the state Cattle Sanitary Board and joined the Safeway organization in 1963 in Clovis. Survivors include his wife, Edith; two sons, Ronald of New London, Conn., and Randy of Portales; a daughter, Mrs. Carl Shamburger of Levelland; a brother, Max Johnson of Artesia; four sisters, Mrs. Katherine Attebery, Mrs. Hazel Bell Dunn and Miss Frances Johnson, all of Roswell and Mrs. Margie Cooney of Lake Oswego, Ore. The family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Portales.

WALLACE JOHNSON Dairy Field Man For New Safeway Milk Plant Wallace Johnson, Artesia, has been appointed to the position of dairy field man, for Safeway Stores, Inc., to work with milk producers supplying milk to the new milk processing plant to open In Clovis about May 1, 1963. The announcement of Johnson's appointment was made by Carl Foster, New Mexico Safeway Division Manager. "The Associated Dairy Farmers, of New Mexico, will soon assign producers to supply milk to our new Clovis plant and it and will be Johnson's 'responsibility to work with these producers in helping them to supply us with the highest quality milk possible," Foster said. Johnson was born in Hope, New Mexico where he attended elementary and high school; He is a graduate of New Mexico State University and has a wide experience in agriculture and dairying. He has served as a county agent in a number of New Mexico counties and was state extension agronomist from 1941 through 1944. He served six years on the New Mexico State Cattle Sanitary Board as a past president of the American Dairy Association of New Mexico and was a member of the New Mexico Dairy Farmers Association. He served as president of his district association for three years. He has been a milk producer for a number of years and is very familiar with milk production in New Mexico. Johnson is on the job at the plant and he and his wife, Edith, will make their home in Clovis. Clovis News Journal 4-8-1963
