Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 7th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3513 N Street Northwest in the District of Columbia.Arrangements by Joseph Gawlers Sons.
A cenotaph for him is located at Village Cemetery in Saint Simons Island, Georgia.

He was the son of Henry Walker Bagley and Nancy Susan Reynolds.
On June 14, 1957 as Smith Bagley, he married Sandra Peabody at St. Matthew's Church in Wilton, Connecticut. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Charles Wilding, rector of St. Martin's Church at Providence, Rhode Island. She was the daughter of Charles M. Peabody of Wilton and Mrs. Robert K. Farrand of Philadelphia.They were the parents of one child.
On January 25, 1965, they were granted a divorce at at Forsyth, North Carolina.
On September 10, 1966 as Smith W. Bagley, he married Vicki Lynn Ladmer at Denver, Colorado.
They were the parents of three children.
Their marriage later ended in divorce
On December 17, 1983, he married Elizabeth Frawley.
They were the parents of two children.

He was the grandson of Richard Joshua Reynolds, who founded the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He was a graduate of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He served as a second lieutenant in the United States Army and later as a captain in the United States Air Force Reserve.
