Mr. Babson was born in Brunswick County on November 14, 1935 and was the son of the late Newman Legrant Babson and Myrlie Rebecca Simmons Babson. Mr. Babson served with N.C. National Guard from 1951-1958 and then served with the U.S. Army until 1962. He was employed with Babson Services of Columbus County for 18 years modifying homes for the handicapped. Mr. Babson was a founding member and served as the first chief of the Holden Beach Fire Department known now as the Tri-Beach Fire department. He was very active member of the Brunswick County Republican Party for 50 years.

Bunny was well known for his generosity and hospitality displayed daily at the "Shed" with his family and friends through his endless home cooked meals which were prepared daily. Even the uninvited were invited to enjoy. The "shed" was a place of good food, family and friends and discussing National, State and local politics. He was an avid fisherman and he took great pride in preparing and serving his catches at the "Shed" along with samples from his bountiful garden especially his collards; however the first pickings from the garden were given to Shirley "Miss Daisy". Other than having a wealth of knowledge in gardening and fishing he was a skilled carpenter and took great pride in sharing his skills with others.
