Mrs. Leona Mabel Hammond, wife of Charles E. Hammond, Sharpsburg, died at the Washington County Hospital yesterday after an illness of three weeks. She was 67 years of age. A daughter of the late Jacob and Alice Poffenberger, Sharpsburg, she was a member of the Sharpsburg Brethren Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by: sons, John E., Martinsburg; Charles G. and James M., Sharpsburg; daughters, Mrs. Robert Howlett and Mrs. Charles Keplinger, Hagerstown; sister, Mrs. Leon Henson, Hagerstown; brothers, Jennings, Baltimore, Jacob, Arthur, Gerald and Albert, Hagerstown; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Leaf Funeral Home, where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., the Rev. Lester Fike officiating. Interment will be made in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
