It was a shocking crime reported throughout the country when a 17-year-old ex-boyfriend killed 14-year-old Tricia Mounce in front of her Science class at Archdale-Trinity Middle School. He had entered the school to confront her after his arrest for kidnapping her. It was reported that he was obsessed with her. When she pulled away from him he stabbed her in the heart; surgeons were unable to save her. The boy was serving a life sentence when he hung himself in prison in 2012.
