Hiram Bryant, Pioneer, Passes.

Hiram Bryant was born in Breathitt county, Kentucky, January 29, 1847, passing from this life at his home in Parker, Kansas, June 3, 1930, at 3:30 p.m. at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 5 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Oldfield, March 3, 1869 at the old home in Kentucky. They came to Kansas in its ealy history.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryant have had a great part in building up a new state, and in their long residence in Linn county, have formed hosts of lasting friendships. At the age of 22 he united with the Christian church and baptized by Rev. Harry Little, and has been a faithful worker in the cause of Christianity.
To this union was born 16 children, 2 dying in infancy. He leaves to mourn his departure, the wife, ten sons and four daughters. Six of the boys were at his bed side in his last hour. they were: Crit and Charlie of the home, George, Grover and Dennie, of Parker, and Jim of Greeley.
The other children are Hamilton and John of Orofino, Idaho: Reason and Elisberry of Ceres, Calif.: Mrs. Ellen Ingram of Orofino, Idaho: Mrs. Ritta Puckett of Clarkston, Wash.: Mrs. Ivory Staples of Bend, Oregon: Mrs. Eisle Ingram, Welch, Olka.: 48 grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
A short service was held at the home, Mrs. Bryant not being able to attend the funeral service which was held at the Christian church at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, June 5. Rev. Goss officiated after which interment was made in the Parker cemetery. ("The Parker Message" newspaper; Parker, Linn County, Kansas, Thursday, June 12th 1930)
