Emeline Sterling was a daughter of Joseph Sterling and Emelia Caldwell. Joseph Sterling was a native of Lyme, Conn., where he was born, Nov. 25, 1786. He married Emelia Caldwell, born in Hartford, Conn., Apr. 10, 1793. Joseph Sterling died Mar. 4, 1839, at Adams, Jefferson County, N. Y., and Emelia Caldwell Sterling died Apr. 22, 1848 in Adams, N.Y.

Emeline Morton was the wife of Julius D. Morton.
Their known children:
*Julius Sterling Morton (Noted founder of Arbor Day, Nebraska pioneer, and Nebraska newspaper editor who served as President Grover Cleveland's Secretary of Agriculture)
*Emma Morton
*William D. Morton

Grandmother of Joy Morton, founder of the Morton Salt Co., Chicago, Illinois and founder of the Morton Arboretum in Lisle Illinois, and Paul Morton, Secretary of the Navy under President Theodore Roosevelt from 1904 to 1905.
