LONG COUNTY - Eugene Gene Talmadge Jackson, 79, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Liberty Regional Medical Center.
The Washington County, Georgia native had lived in this area since 1972.
He was retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years of service to his country and was a Korean & Vietnam Veteran.
He was a member of the VFW Post 8379 and American Legion Post 95.
He loved the outdoors, spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and skeet shooting. He helped organize the Sandhill Softball Field.
He graduated from Georgia Southern University and a member of Little Rock Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by parents, Jack & Ada Jackson, brothers, Randall & Franklin Jackson, sisters, Fannie Mae Braddock, Louise Braddock, & Eudell Price and son-in-law, Lee Johns.
He is survived by; wife of 61 years, Monceil Blocker Jackson of Ludowici; children, Nancy Johns of Atlanta, Ga., Cathy (Brian) Roberts of Savannah, Joe (Denise)
Jackson of Seattle, WA.; grandchildren, Crystal Brigman (Hans), Sam Police, Jonathan Jackson, Taylor Jackson, Shane Johns (Tiana), Jeff Johns, Barbara Johns, Steven Johns; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2012 at Little Rock Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Pigott Branch Church Cemetery with full military honors.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
