Raymond served as a Private First Class, 233 Base Unit Combat Crew Training Squadron, Davis-Monthan Army Airfield, Arizona, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 28, 1944 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was noted as being Single, without dependents.

Raymond died in the "Line Of Duty" during a training mission in a mid-air collision.

After departing the airfield aboard B-24J Liberator (#42-73344) in a formation training flight, his bomber collided with B-24J (#42-73357) approximately eight miles out, and both planes fell to earth and exploded upon impact. All eighteen aviators aboard both ships were killed. There were no survivors.
