Eldon Reems Branch of Tigard, Oregon, passed away on October 22, 2012 after a short battle with lung cancer.
The only child of Joseph Oscar Branch and Minnie Beatrice Branch (Riney), Eldon was born on September 21, 1931 in a small farmhouse in Walters, Oklahoma.
Eldon's father passed away in 1942 when Eldon was 10 years old. His mother then moved them to California to be closer to her family.
When he was 15 years old, they moved again, this time to Bend, Oregon. It was there that Eldon met the love of his life, Doris Ellen Crawshaw. Doris was the younger sister to one of Eldon's buddies.
Eldon graduated from Bend High School in 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in Guam and The Philippines, then returned to marry Doris in 1952. The Navy moved them to California where they had their two children, John Oscar (1953) and Lonnie Kay (1954).
Following his military service, the family settled in Portland, Oregon. Eldon worked as a Portland firefighter from 1959 to 1984. He was also a very skilled brick and stone mason.
The family moved to Tigard, Oregon in 1965 where Eldon and Doris lived together until Eldon's passing.
His love of camping and fishing helped him develop many strong friendships over the years, and he never lost his love for farming, tractors and bib-overalls. A generous and compassionate person, standing 6ft-5in tall, his heart was as big as the man he was. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
Eldon is survived by his wife Doris, son John Branch, daughter Lonnie Annas, 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
