Mr. Peder O. Grina, one of the old settlers here, passed away Friday morning, October 15, 1925, after rather a long illness.

Peder Olsen Grina was born on the Moger farm, near Gran, Hadeland, Norway on October 5, 1853. The following year he came to this country with his parents and 3 older brothers. The family settled in Marion Township, Clayton County, Iowa. In 1875 Mr. Grina moved to Northwood, ND, where he lived until his death.

Mr. Grina has experienced many hardships in life. His first wife Maren Julia died after many years of illness. There are eight children of this first marriage that survive him: Mrs. Syver Bjerke and Mrs. Nick Ulberg of Northwood; Mrs. Ostlie of Reynolds, Mrs. John Fladland of Grand Forks; Ole Grina of Plaza, ND, Edward and Alvin Grina of Grand Forks, and Henry Grina of Northwood, ND.

Mr. Grina married Miss Ingeborg Bilden in 1907. She survives her husband. Mr. Grina has five brothers living: Brady of Northwood, Iver of Underwood, MN, Edward of Heimdahl, ND, and Theodore and Melvin of Divide Co., ND.

Peder was buried Monday from the house and from the Ebenezer Lutheran church. There were a great number of Mr. Grina's relatives present at the funeral, besides a considerable number of other friends and and old acquaintances. In the passing of Mr. Grina, the community sustains the loss of an esteemed and honored pioneer. He was an honest and rather quiet man, who leaves behind him many friends. No tombstone marks his grave.
