Mrs. Mary Winn Rozier Moore, 71, died early Sunday morning (Jan. 7, 2001) at Baptist Village in Waycross, following an extended illness.
She was born in Pierce County and resided there for many years before moving to Alma several years ago. She was a homemaker, a charter member of Southgate Baptist Church, Blackshear, and more recently a member of New Union Baptist Church, Alma.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, the Rev. A. J. Rozier and Euell Deal, her parents, Archie P. and Mary Ruth Gill Winn, two sisters, Irma Johnson and Hazel Roberson, and three brothers, J. R., Archie Jr., and Leo Winn.
The survivors include her husband J. H. "Bo" Moore of Alma; a son Irvin Rozier (wife Kathy) of Blackshear; four daughters, Shirley Thigpen (husband Joe) and Joanne Adams (husband Billy), both of Blackshear, Evelyn Steedley (husband Leonard) of Argyle and Linda Burke (husband Felton Jr.) of Jesup; a stepson, Roy Moore Jr. (wife Olivia) of Atlanta; two stepdaughters, Debra Deen (husband Walter) and Janet Palmer (husband Jim), both of Atlanta; two sisters, Mildred Winn and Ida Mae Walker, both of Jacksonville, FL.; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Blackshear (formerly Dixon-Bowen-Taylor). Burial will be at the New Home Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Offerman.
There will be visitation at the funeral home this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Also the family are receiving friends at the Adams residence in Blackshear.
