Earl C. Sievert, age 85, formerly of 1803 Hoover St., New Holstein, died Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2002 at the Calumet Homestead in New Holstein where he had resided for the past 2 1/2 years.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1916 in the town of Schleswig, son of the late Herman and Edna Brocker Sievert. He attended Hillside Grove School in the town of Schleswig. On May 25, 1940 he married Frances Koenig at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill. She died Oct. 29, 1980. On July 3, 1982 he married Alice Lindemann Weber. Earl was employed at Stoelting Inc. in Kiel for 36 years retiring in August 1981. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein, a former member of the Kiel Knights of Columbus and a former Kiel alderman.
Survivors include his wife: Alice, a resident of the Calumet Homestead; two children: Kerry (Bonnie) Sievert of Manitowoc; and Karen (Jim) Becker of Chilton; six grandchildren: Katie, Kevin, Erin Sievert; Wayne, James and Jeremy Becker; and three great-grandchildren: A.J., Cearra and Brandon Becker.
He is also survived by one sister: Leora Fluhr of rural New Holstein; brother and sisters-in-law: Eleanor (Joseph) Waller of California; Juanita Riesterer of Kiel; Jeanette Olig of Sheboygan; Lucille Koenig of rural Kiel; Roland (LuAnn) Koenig of Sheboygan; and Jerome Koenig of rural Newton.
He was preceded in death by one brother: Clarence Sievert; brother and sisters-in-law: Gladys Sievert, Dorothy Koenig, Norbert and Lucille Koenig, Ervin Koenig, Francis Riesterer and Robert Olig.
Funeral Mass will be at noon Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein with the Rev. Frank Weber, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, School Hill.
Friends may call at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel, on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. when brief family rites will be held.
A parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
