JOSEPH H. SCHARENBROCH

Joseph H. Sharenbroch, 83, of R. 1, Kiel, died Monday at his home in School Hill after an illness of one month. Born Dec. 4, 1877, in the Town of Meeme, he was a son of the late Christian and Magdalen Herr Scharenbroch, attended school at School Hill, and married Cecelia Schad Knier of School Hill on Oct. 28, 1919.

The couple farmed on the homestead farm. His wife died in 1951.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church at School Hill and the Holy Name Society of the church.

Survivors are four sons, Andrew of Sheboygan, Lawrence of rural Kiel, Paul of Newton, Florian of Creve Couer, Ill.; a stepson, the Rev. Aloysius Knier, a chaplain in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Ky., with the rank of lieutenant colonel; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Conway of Sheboygan; a step-daughter, Mrs. Irvin Vogds of Milwaukee; two brothers, Peter of St. Nazianz, William of School Hill and 24 grandchildren. One daughter, four sisters, and a brother also preceded him in death. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Church at School Hill, following brief rites at 9:15 a.m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel. The Rev. Mr. Knier will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited there at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
