ARNO W. HICKMAN

Arno W. Hickman, 82, a 3 year resident of Chilton Care Center and formerly of Marken Rd. School Hill died Saturday October 22, 2005 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Appleton were he had been a patient for the past four days.

He was born in School Hill on October 8, 1923 son of the late Philip and Mary Koeser Hickman. He attended the Woodland School in School Hill. Arno made his lifelong home in School Hill.

Arno was a member of the US Navy, serving in WWII from 1943 until 1946. On June 4, 1947 he married the former Lillian Knier at St. Isidore's Catholic Church in Osman and she preceded him in death on December 21, 1992.
From 1950 until 1954 Arno was once again called to active duty in the US Navy and served during the Korean War in Korea and New Guinea. Arno was employed at the Kohler Co. in the Foundry for 28 years and also owned and operated his own General Contracting business for many years. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church were he was a member of the Men's Club. Arno was a member of the Knights of Columbus Kiel Council #5539 and was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Msgr.Philipp Dries Council of Sheboygan. He was also an active member of the Meeme Town Board holding many positions throughout the years.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking, racing and volunteering at many local organizations..

Survivors include his three children; Ronald "Porkchop" Hickman of School Hill, Mary Beth Hickman of School Hill, Margaret (Andrew) Bonde of Bettendorf Iowa.
His Grandchildren; Evan Bonde and Erin Bonde. He is also survived by a sister; Mabel Plagemann of St. Nazianz, a Nephew; Grant (Christa) Taylor of Osman, Brothers-in-law; Fritz (Marion) Herr of Osman, Kenneth (Lorraine) Knier of Valders.
Arno is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews other relative and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter; Jean Marie, Brothers and Sisters-in-law; Edwin (Gertrude) Hickman, Henry Plagemann, Ronald Knier, and Kathleen Herr.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Thursday October 27, 2005 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church School Hill with the Rev. Gregory Coulthard and Deacon James Steffen officiating. Burial in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St. Kiel on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00pm and at the CHURCH on Thursday from 9:30am until the time of service. Parish Vigil Service Wednesday at 7:45pm.
The family of Arno would like to thank the staff of Chilton Care Center for all the wonderful care and compassion over the past three years. Also to all the family and friends who visited Arno especially his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews for the support given to Arno's family while he was at the Chilton Care Center.
