BERNARD P. BONDE

Bernard P. Bonde, age 90,, a resident of Laurel Grove Assisted Living Center, Manitowoc, died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, June 10, 2004 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gregory Coulthard with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded.
He was born Jan. 20, 1914 in Newton, son of the late Theodore and Genevieve Baugniet Bonde. Bernard was a graduate of Woodland School, School Hill. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and was the recipient of five Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He served in several theaters including North Africa, Sicily, France and Germany. Bernard was employed at Mirro Aluminum Company in Manitowoc, until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of Manitowoc Eagles Aerie #706, Pigeon Lake Sportsmen's Club, Friends of Sinawa, VFW Post #8974 of Cleveland and a 50 year member of American Legion Post #0477 of St. Nazianz.
Survivors include five brothers and five sisters-in-law, Ted and Virginette Bonde, Manitowoc; Alex and Rita Bonde, Kiel; Fred Bonde, Pigeon Lake; Donald and Margie Bonde, Newton; Roman and Betty Bonde, Kiel; Marie Bonde, California; five sisters, Margaret Bonde, Loretta Koenig,, Frances Hutchison, all of Manitowoc; Irene Stein, Sheboygan; Marion Lenz, Kiel; 56 nieces and nephews, along with many other cousins, relatives and many friends. He was also preceded in death by two brothers,, Norbert and Odilo Bonde; two sisters, Marcella and Rose; four brothers-in-law, Elmer Koenig, Wilbert Hutchison, Alfred Stein and Robert Lenz; and three sisters-in-law, Catherine, Katie and Polly Bonde.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday where a prayer service will be held at 7 pm led by Deacon Robert Drobka. The family will also greet relatives and friends Thursday morning at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am.
