HENRY BINVERSIE

Binversie, 71, Dies At Farm Home
Henry J. Binversie of St. Nazianz, who was a life-time agriculturist and always active in community service, died Wednesday at his farm home in the Town of Meeme. He was 71.
Binversie, native of Manitowoc County, started the family farm when 18 years of age with nine head of dairy cows. His herd grew to 100 or more purebred dairy cattle, a herd of purebred sows and a 230 acre farm.

He introduced many modern practices in his dairy operation. He was an early adopter of such modern agricultural practices as bunk feeding, pipeline milking, soil testing and fertilizer application.

He was a member of the original steering committee and had a leading role in the development of the Lake to Lake Dairy Co-operative and had served as vice president of the cooperative for 12 years.

He was influential in organizing the Lakeland Egg Cooperative, Valders, and the Wisconsin Feeder Pig Marketing Cooperative. He served as president of the Swine Breeders Assn., and was a director of the Holstein Breeders Assn. He was a charter member of the Manitowoc County Farm Bureau.

In 1964, he received the honorary recognition citation at the Farm and Home Conference in Madison as one of Wisconsin's outstanding agricultural leaders during the annual honorary recognition banquet. He had served in the offices of vice president and president of the State Bank of Kiel, and was on the bank's board for a quarter century.
Mr. Binversie and his wife were parents of 10 children.
Funeral services will be Saturday.
