Albert Henry Detjen SMSgt. (Ret.) USAF Albert Detjen, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called to his heavenly home on October 23, 2012. Al was born October 27, 1922, in Fredericksburg, Texas, to Henry and Emmie Detjen.

Al is survived by his loving bride of 68 years, Anne; son, Wayne, and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Terri; son, Karl, and wife, Donna; son, Jon, and wife, Choon Jung; son, Robert; grandchildren, Jon, Shannon, Chris, Tim, Jennifer, Jeff, Jocelyn, Jason, Kirk, Nathan, Christopher, Stephanie, Aaron, Michael, and Elizabeth; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Al proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1940-1961. After retiring from the USAF, he worked for 22 years at Western Southern Life Insurance.

Al served his community as a volunteer at Seton Northwest Hospital and as a neighbor willing to help anyone in need. Music was an important part of Al's life. He sang in the USAF Catholic Base Choir, the Austin Saengerrunde Maennerchor, and the Chorgemeinschaft of Texas. His quick wit, sense of humor and ready smile endeared Al to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Visitation will be held at Austin-Peel & Son Funeral Home, 607 East Anderson Lane, Austin. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 12041 Bittern Hollow, Austin. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston with full Military Honors on Monday, October 29.
