Funeral Monday For Levi Baker
Funeral services for Levi Baker, 91, Mingus Nursing home, 683 Eighteenth St., will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Open Bible. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery.
Mr. Baker, who was born in Missouri and moved to the Des Moines vicinity seven years ago, died Friday of arterial sclerosis at the nursing home. He had farmed until going blind 14 years ago, and was a member of the Baptist church in Green City, Mo. His grandson, the Rev. Keith L. Hume, will conduct the services.
Surviving are his wife, Lelia and 10 of 14 children. They include five daughters, Mrs. Eva Price, Green City; Mrs. Lizzie Bailey, Brookville, Mo.; Mrs. J.E. Caldwell, West Des Moines; the Rev. Marie Hume, Des Moines, and Mrs. J.R. Burke, West Des Moines, and five sons, Floyd, Plevna, Mo.; Jesse, Seattle, Wash.; the Rev. Raymond, West Des Moines; Roy, Kansas City, Mo.; and Clarence, Utica, Mo. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Levi was first married to Permelia A. Strode on September 26, 1875, in Sullivan Co, Missouri.

Permelia and her sons are buried in Payne Cemetery in Milan, Missouri.
On October 25, 1885, he was united in marriage to Lelia Ever Wilson in Sullivan Co, Missouri.
